Our topic, this term is 'Robots' and the children will be learning about how we use robots in our world, including discussions about the uses of AI. We shall be designing and building our own moving robots as part of a Lego workshop as well as making robots out of recycled materials.
We hope to visit 'We the Curious' in Bristol for Scribblebot workshops as well as having visits from an NHS robot and a drone operator from South Wales Police.
In Language, we shall be reading 'The Iron Man' and shall use this as a stimulus for children to write their own robot stories and poems. In addition they will be writing non-chronological reports.
In Maths, we shall be measuring length and mass, finding areas and perimeters and exploring fractions.
If you want to help your child at home, you could practise finding fractions of numbers using pasta or buttons. Also you could encourage your child to look at the wights of tins and packets at home to gain an understanding of comparative weights.
