Lights, Camera, Action

SUMMER TERM 2023

Lights, Camera, Action!

During this topic - ‘Lights, Camera, Action!`, pupils  will be looking closely at the story of `Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and how it has been adapted for stage and screen. Pupils will have the opportunity to express themselves through a variety of media including dance and music. Linking with these pupils will participate in the Green Power - Formula 1 challenge, where they will design, create and race their own car.

In this Expressive Arts  based topic, learners will become enterprising, creative contributors.by completing a series of tasks where they will design and create their own formula 1 car using sponsorship that they have obtained from local businesses and planning their own assembly for parents, using their knowledge to create an appropriate  car for the period for their stage production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  They will become ambitious and capable learners by interpreting data, and using digital technologies creatively to communicate, find and analyse information. In addition, they will undertake research and evaluate what they find. They will also use numbers effectively in different contexts.  Through these experiences pupils will demonstrate independence and resilience. They will be given opportunities to ask questions and solve problems related to the topic, using research to help them formulate their own views and opinions. Pupils will also plan and work collaboratively in order to carry out an assembly for parents based on the story of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. In this topic they will have the opportunity to become creative contributors by writing a script for their performance and designing the set and costumes. They will also create a logo and team name linked to their formula 1 work.

The end product for this topic will be an end of term concert for learners to showcase their talents, demonstrating what they have learned during the term and a formula 1 race will be held in Aberdare Park against other participating schools.
