Our Topic this term is 'O dan y Ddaear' (Under the Ground) and as part of our topic the children will be learning all about mining and the life of a Victorian child miner. They will locate mines on a map of Wales, learn about the Tonypandy riots and write newspaper reports on the Senghenydd Disaster. We will also go on an exciting trip to visit a local mine, The Big Pit to experience, first hand, what it is like to be a miner.
In Language, the children will focus on diary writing and newspaper reports. Children would benefit from reading newspaper reports at home and being encouraged to write diaries of their weekends and days in school
In Mathematics, we will be focusing on using their times tables to solve division problems as well as learning to tell the time on an analogue and digital clock. You could support your child at home by encouraging them to practise telling the time, during the day, and continue to practise times tables.
